I don’t see how they can call it the SML wine festival when it’s not even being held on/by the lake. We personally know over 75 couples that won’t be attending as it’s not accessible by water. We hope the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce wakes up for next year’s event and brings it back to the lake.
Is the Festival still on for Saturday with the rain??
Author
A good question Ruth. According to the SML Chamber of Commerce the 20th Annual SML Wine Festival, as with every previous year,
will be held Rain or Shine. They are expecting the rain to move north and the overcast sky should turn to shine on Sunday. Whatever the outcome, this will be an incredible event with 4 bands, 28 VA wineries, 90 Quality Food and Craft vendors. It’s a full day of enjoyment for everyone rain or shine. Get tickets at the gate. Free parking right on site.
Hi!
Could you tell me who the bands were on Saturday? Really enjoyed both of them and would love to get that information.
Thank you!

when is the 2009 festival?
Author
Sat. and Sun. Sept. 26th and 27th at Lake Watch Plantation.
I am interested in participating as a craft vendor. I paint on glassware & recycled wine bottles. I have participated in other local craft shows, some which were juried. A friend of mine, who worked for the Parkway Department, was telling me what a great festival this is and my family and I plan to attend but I would really like to participate. Can you give me some information as to whom to contact? Thank You. Leslie Dixon

Leslie, your craft sounds neat. Here is the link for info. on the 2009 SML Wine Festival. Maybe we’ll see you there.
We have been attending SML wine festival for about five years. We were very disappointed when they move the event from SML to a pond. If you couldn’t host it at Bernard’s Landing, at least find another spot on the lake. That pond is no substitute. We have a bigger pond in Stafford, VA.
