If you are an experienced fisher-person at Smith Mountain Lake, you may be able to readily identify any critter you pull out of the water. However, there are those of us who need “fishing for dummies” type of help. We might not know if we have snagged a snapping turtle or a trout.
There are many species of fish in Smith Mountain Lake besides the bass and such that excite the pros. Some are plain colors and some are brilliant hues. Some like worm bait and some won’t bite without elaborate lures.
