You just never can tell what sort of new and wonderful ideas might pop up at Smith Mountain Lake. A few years ago, I would never have imagined anyone planning an entire day in our area devoted to learning healthy responsible ways to care for the lovely world God gave us.
But that is exactly what has been organized by the Virginia Dept. of Conservation and Recreation for Saturday, May 17th at Smith Mountain Lake State Park. They believe that ultimately our livelihood, quality of life, and future depend on how intelligently all of us manage our natural resources.
The best part about this afternoon of activity is that it’s mostly fun and games. What better way to learn than while you are having a good time? There will be a Recycle Relay, a game of Healthy Water Hopscotch, the Can Stomp, and much more!
Bring the whole family out for “Livin’ Green” at SML State Park from 1-3 p.m. and have a blast while you educate yourselves on some easy steps towards the health of both you and your environment. For more information call 540-297-5998 or visit www.dcr.virginia.gov.
