Smith Mountain Lake Academy finally opened and their first day of school far exceeded everyone’s expectations, according to principal Deke Andrews. After the opening exercises featuring praise and worship, prayer, and a brief devotional, twenty students were led by Christian teachers to begin their academic year. The joy of the Lord was overwhelming from the beginning and throughout the day.
So far the 4th-7th graders have enjoyed a retreat on the lake where they have re-created their own scenes from A Bridge to Terabithia, their first study novel. They will also participate in banana boating, kayaking, swimming, wakeboarding, and outdoor science adventures.
The 3rd graders have just finished an INTEGRITY INSTITUTE session, after which one tender-hearted child blessed everyone by volunteering to pray at the end. She thanked the Lord for the school and prayed blessings for her teachers and classmates.
SML Christian Academy would like to thank everyone who helped, supported, and prayed for the school’s success. So many seeds that have been planted over the last several years are coming to harvest. Don’t forget that the Academy doors remain open for new applications. For further info. visit http://www.smlca.org/.
