Make a note of this Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia event now so you don’t forget: November 27, 2010, is the Virginia Dare Flotilla for Toys Boat Parade.
If you have never been part of the Flotilla for Toys you may be wondering what the big deal is. Well, it is “boat-loads” of fun for everyone as well as a fund drive for needy children. You get to dress in your favorite Christmas attire and help collect toys for the needy children of Bedford and Franklin Counties.
The Cruise ship Virginia Dare will be decorated for Christmas with beautiful lights and seasonal music as she sails around the lake at the head of a grand flotilla of boats collecting toys for Lake Christian Ministries. From Hales Ford Bridge to Smith Mountain Lake State Park, this floating convoy will travel to benefit kids whose parents can’t afford to put gifts under the tree this year.
