It is the SML Visitor Center at 16430 Booker T. Washington Hwy. in Moneta. It will give you an idea of what kinds of interesting activities and locations there are to visit at the lake. It will also tell of the Lake’s history and relevant facts about its existence. Even if you have lived at Smith Mountain Lake for some time you might find yourself surprised at the information you find at the Visitor Center.

This is a state-certified visitor center. We offer information on Smith Mountain Lake and surrounding areas. We are closed only on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Created by a hydroelectric dam on the Roanoke and Blackwater rivers, this 20,000-acre lake with 500 miles of shoreline is one of the largest man-made lakes in the state and is nationally recognized for its bass fishing. The Visitor Center offers information on boating, fishing, hiking, nature trails, horseback riding, picnicking, camping, lodging, championship golf, water sports, and more.
