At the Westlake area of Smith Mountain Lake, Va. there are soon to be 2 new additions for the communities convenience and enjoyment.
The first is a branch of the Franklin County Library, opening in Westlake Corner shopping plaza next to Good Looks Salon. They are in the process of a campaign to raise funds for more materials. The capacity of the new branch will be 40,000 items, but the doors can open with only 10,000. There will also be 14 computers with free Wi-Fi for laptops, adult and children’s programs, a meeting room, and a study room. The opening date is planned for July 8th at 10:00 a.m.
You can help build the library by donating to the capital campaign. Make checks out to Franklin County Library Foundation, Inc. and mail to: Westlake Library Capital Campaign; Stanley Smith, Treasurer; P.O. Box 717; Hardy, VA 24101. library.franklincountyva.org.
The second is a million-dollar addition to the Westlake Kroger store which began in June. The new part of the store will add 27,000 sq. feet of space. There will also be a lot of new products to service the community. The store entrance will be larger, and there will be several specialty Ailes and food bars, a bigger deli, and a pharmacy. The plan is for a Starbucks and a Nature’s Market inside as well. They hope to have the addition completed before the end of the year.
